Rives Merritt Allen was born in a sailing family. As a child, he started sailing both keelboats and several small boats, such as the Sunfish and the Flying Scot. He eventually started racing these boats all across the gulf coast within the GYA.  He also helped his father with numerous boat repairs, which intrigued his interest in all aspects of yachting.

 

He is still a highly respected competitive sailor with an honest passion for the sport. His passion makes him a confident and reliable source for your yachting needs.

Rives has a US 100 ton Merchant Marine Captain's License​ since 1998. He has plenty of experience as a captain on a variety of vessels, from flying parasail to captaining large tow boats. He is a great captain with a good sense of humor who will certainly entertain his crew. Check our charters & delivery page for more info.

 

If you are interested in learning to sail, Rives is the captain for the job. He is a certified US SAILING Keelboat Instructor, and is licensed to provide you with a basic keelboat certification. Find out more on our sailing classes page.

 

Rives gained hands on yacht refinishing experience working several years at the Bay County Boat Yard, where he was specialized in fiberglass repair and high gloss yacht finishes. At Treasure Island Marina Rives worked for the new boat sales department, rigging new yachts and testing all the systems. He is considered one of the best yacht refinishers in the Bay County area.

After working in several fields of the boating industry, Rives finally decided to open his own business in 2010. Enjoy it!
